It’s the World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest in the parking lot along Kirby Drive.

“This year’s Bar-B-Que we have over 350 cooking teams out there, basically competing for bragging rights: various categories, chicken, brisket, ribs, grand champion overall.”

The Bar-B-Que’s Mark Solomon says as the big winner is education.

This basically goes to youth and education in Texas. We contributed $1.4-million last year directly to youth and education to the show scholarship fund.”

The $7.00 entrance fee includes a chopped beef sandwich and live entertainment that begins this evening and runs through 11 Sunday night.

And it’s not just a food competition, the many of the competitors stands creatively designed.

As always there is limited parking so the best bet is to use the rodeo shuttle lots.
