(Chanting) “Adrian! Adrian! Adrian!”

It was a party atmosphere in downtown Houston as supporters of Adrian Garcia celebrated his big and to some a surprising victory over incumbent Tommy Thomas.

“This night belongs to every citizen of Harris County: Democrats, Independents and Republicans who voted for a new day of transparency and accountability in the Harris County Sheriff’s department.”

Garcia was joined on stage by his wife, daughter and mother. He thanked some of his fellow councilmembers who supported his campaign as well as Mayor Bill White who got on stage and said a few words. In the end, Garcia had this to say about his big win.

“This is proof that grass roots campaigns do win races.”
