you may be able to save time and gas by

You don’t always have to renew your license, or change your address by going to a DPS office and waiting in line. You can do at Texas-online-dot-com.

“To be able to renew your license online there’s a couple of things you’ll need to have.”

Lisa Block is with DPS.

“You have to have information from your current license or identification card as well as a valid credit card or debit card. The online change of address fee is only eleven dollars, and if a license holder chooses to renew at the same time as changing the address the fee is twenty-five dollars.”

A Texas driver license is good for six years, so every other time you renew you must do it in person.  DPS has been allowing you to do this online since 2001 and the numbers of online renewals has been increasing, but DPS thinks if more people know about the service more will use.
