Keeping Houston clean and attractive is a job too big for one city department or one organization alone. Corporations, government agencies, civic groups and individuals all have a role to play.
Each year for the last 21 years Keep Houston Beautiful has recognized those it calls Proud Partners. Robin Blut is Keep Houston Beautiful Executive Director.
Blut says The Port of Houston was noted for it’s beautification efforts, the River Oaks Garden Club for it’s work at Bayou Bend, and Keiji Asakura for his work as a landscape architect. Houston Mayor Bill White was on hand for the luncheon presentation and said keeping Houston Beautiful is every one’s responsibility.
Robin Blut says among the cities three biggest issues are cigarette trash, litter along highways, because the state can only clean them up a few times a year, and illegal dumping.
