The new indictment, which supercedes last week’s, was handed up by a new grand jury seated Monday, adding two charges of money laundering. Defense attorney Dick DeGuerin says no corporate money went to any Texas candidates.
DeGuerin asked a judge to throw out that indictment, arguing it was based on a statute that didn’t take effect until a year after the alleged acts.
DeGuerin says the new indictment is an effort to correct what he describes as an embarrassingly flawed indictment against DeLay.
