150,000 Entergy customers have power back but officials are asking them to minimize their energy use today. Even though the power is flowing they are still working on getting the plants fully operational.

Late last night, high winds took down 16 electricity transmission lines. Entergy Spokesperson Mike Rogers say that caused what’s called a voltage imbalance. The power started going out and the Lewis Creek Power Plant went into emergency shut down. The power lines are back up, but Rogers say they are still working on the power plant generators. Because of that Entergy is asking customers to reduce their electricity use today.

Entergy recommends a temperature setting of 78 degrees for air conditioners. Filters should be clean. Closing blinds and drapes can also ease the demand on air conditioners. Customers are also encouraged to delay doing laundry and washing dishes until the evening. The plant also had a small fire an insulating blanket caught fire but Rogers says that did not cause the power outage.
