White Linen Night 2023: Here’s where to celebrate in Houston’s Heights

Parts of West 19th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the first time since 2019. There are White Linen Night events on that thoroughfare as well as on White Oak Drive and in other parts of the Heights.

Although White Linen Night originated in New Orleans, it traveled across the Sabine River years ago and has become a Houston favorite. Thousands are expected to venture to the Heights neighborhood on Saturday and combat the heat by dressing up in light, loose-fitting white clothing.

Parts of West 19th Street, where White Linen Night in the Heights began in 2006, will be closed to vehicular traffic for the first time since 2019. Several themed events are happening there as well as on White Oak Drive and in other parts of the Heights.

For those wishing to join in on Saturday’s festivities, here is a list of 13 places to check out during White Linen Night:

WEST 19TH STREET

White Linen Night at 19th & Ashland | 4-10 p.m., 401 W. 19th St.

Openair Company is hosting more than 30 different vendors for a "wellness" inspired White Linen Night. They'll have drinks, food, plants and a giveaway. The event is free to enter, but the vendors are not. More information is available here.

White Linen Night Fiesta | 4-10 p.m., 1801 Yale St.

The Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina Heights location is celebrating White Linen Night with live music, street tacos, cocktails and expanded seating. More information is available here.

White Linen Night at Casa Ramirez | 5-9 p.m., 241 W. 19th St.

Casa Ramirez Folkart Gallery is taking advantage of 19th Street’s closure and hosting a night of live music and art. They'll have Frida Festival organizer Lizbeth Ortiz in-house and Bossa II on the speakers. Stop by for air conditioning, cold drinks and culture. Entrance to the shop is free.

White Linen Night Celebration | 6 p.m., 250 W. 19th St.

Harold's Restaurant, Bar & Terrace, Emerson Rose, Circa Real Estate and Torchy's Tacos are preparing a night of summer fun in the Heights. They'll have games, desserts and live music from a DJ and The Nomad Jam. Attendees will be able to commemorate the night with pictures from their photo booth. Entry is free.

WHITE OAK DRIVE

White Linen Night on White Oak | 4 p.m.-2 a.m., 2820 White Oak Dr.

The Heights location for Christian’s Tailgate will show the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz fight at its White Linen Night party. There will be food trucks, music, vendors and drink specials, along with no cover charge.

White Linen Trash Disco | 5 p.m.-2 a.m., 3106 White Oak Dr.

Onion Creek’s parking lot disco is coming back Saturday. They’ll have live music from The Moment, Denevrado’s Movers & Shakers and DJ Melodic until 2 a.m. as well as their typical food-and-drink menu. Attendance is free.

EZ’s Liquor Lounge White Linen Night | 6 p.m., 3302 White Oak Dr.

EZ’s is hosting Western Jelly for a night of live music and drink specials, with the concert starting at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

White Linen Glow Party | 6 p.m.-2 a.m., 2631 White Oak Dr.

Little Woodrow's Heights is going to light up the night sky at its White Linen Glow Party. They'll have drink specials and DJs all night long. They are also showing the Nate Diaz vs. Jake Paul fight.

White Linen at BB’s Tex-Orleans | 6:30 p.m., 2701 White Oak Dr.

BB's prides itself on its Cajun cuisine and style, so it's no wonder that they'll partake in the festivities. They'll have music from DJ Swaded Sounds from 6:30-9:30 p.m. as well as their Houston Restaurant Weeks special menu. BB’s is open late, which makes it a good option for a "recharge" after an exciting White Linen Night.

White Linen Night Bobcat Teddy’s | 7-11 p.m., 2803 White Oak Dr.

Bobcat Teddy's is hosting Popgun!, a pop music cover band, for a night of music, drinks, food and fun. They'll have their normal drinks and food menu. Entrance is free.

GREATER HEIGHTS

White Linen Market | 5-9 p.m., 600 N. Shepherd Dr.

Houston Plant Market is hosting its first White Linen Night event at M-K-T. They've lined up 35 vendors for an open-air market and will provide free beer and water. Make sure to keep an eye out for the scavenger hunt. Entrance to this family- and pet-friendly event is free. More information is available here.

Heights Bier Garten Annual White Linen Event | 6-10 p.m., 1433 N. Shepherd Dr.

Heights Bier Garten patrons should make sure to wear their best white linen attire Saturday. The tavern will host a best-dressed competition at its nighttime party, alongside live music from Bourbon Street the band and a 360 photo booth. Heights Bier Garten opens at 11 a.m. and there is no cover charge.

White Linen Affair | 6-11 p.m., 1230 W. 20th St.

Cool off at the White Linen Night party hosted by McIntyre's Heights location. They'll have frozen drinks, air conditioning and live music from The Weak Knights and DJ Palmo. More information is available on the McIntyre’s website under the "specials" section.
