According to a new study from UTHealth, children with certain birth defects are also at an increased risk for abuse. According to researchers, children born with a cleft lip or palate, and children born with spina bifida are at an increased risk of abuse before they turn 2-years-old.

To learn more, Maggie Martin talks with Dr. Bethanie Van Horne. She's assistant director of state initiatives at UTHealth's Children's Learning Institute, and she conducted the study as part of her dissertation at UTHealth School of Public Health.
