Terry Grier Resigns HISD Superintendent

Scott Van Beck spent 25 years working inside the Houston Independent School District. Now he’s Executive Director of the non-profit Houston A+ Challenge, which partners with HISD and Houston Community College on schools and projects like the Houston Academy for International Studies, a charter school operating within HISD.

This work gives Van Beck a somewhat unique perspective on the future challenges facing HISD. We ask him what the next superintendent of the largest school district in Texas will have to take on.
