Summer Reading: Children’s Book Helps Kids Deal with a Loved One’s Dementia

We continue our summer reading series today as we talk with Houstonian Toby Haberkorn, author of When My Grammy Forgets, I Remember.

It’s a children’s book designed to help kids and their parents talk about and understand what happens when a grandparent develops dementia.

With the increasing numbers of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other dementia conditions, more families and children will experience the sadness and challenges of this disease in a relative or friend. The book explores the difficult reality of dementia and the enduring strength of a nurturing relationship between a granddaughter and her beloved Grammy.
