As the largest flooding disaster in Houston's history, Hurricane Harvey was a seminal moment. Five years on, we wanted to know where things stood. "Below the Waterlines: Houston after Hurricane Harvey" is a one-hour news documentary that examined how well the region recovered and whether it was prepared for the next major storm. We spent several months gathering data, interviewing stakeholders, and analyzing the information.

We focused on how Houston has changed, problems with its two major stormwater reservoirs, green infrastructure solutions, and buyouts of flood prone neighborhoods.
The result is a thoroughly reported, sound-rich special project that aired on KUHF along with a companion landing page featuring written pieces that enhance the audio stories with photos, graphics, and additional details from our findings.
