Texas judge blocks state’s pre-Roe ban, allows some abortions to continue

Posted on June 28, 2022 · The 1925 law at the core of the case was in effect until the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade. It made performing an abortion punishable by up to five years in prison.

Health care providers sue Texas over pre-Roe abortion ban

Posted on June 27, 2022 · In a memo issued last week, Attorney General Ken Paxton said prosecutors “may choose to immediately pursue criminal prosecutions based on violations of Texas abortion prohibitions predating Roe that were never repealed by the Texas Legislature.”

Plan B and contraceptives remain legal in Texas after U.S. Supreme Court ruling on abortion

Posted on June 24, 2022 · In the same decision that overruled Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court was clear that the constitutional right to access contraceptives remains untouched — though one justice said he would welcome challenges to that right.

Unemployed Texans Will Stop Getting Additional $300-Per-Week Benefit Next Month After Gov. Greg Abbott Opts Out Of Federal Program

Posted on May 17, 2021 · The unemployment rate in Texas was 6.9% in March, which is more than double the record low of 3.4% in May 2019. The extra $300 federal benefit will end June 26 for jobless Texans.
