Matthew Brawley

Senior Producer

Matthew Brawley is a twenty-one time Emmy winner and three-time Houston Press Club TV Photojournalist of the Year. Among his twenty-one Emmy nods are Craft awards in three different disciplines—editing (4), directing (3), and photography (2).

Matthew is currently Senior Production Supervisor for TV 8 at Houston Public Media, where he manages the television production crew while also shooting, editing and directing a variety of projects. He has worked on several acclaimed documentaries—serving as online editor for the nationally-aired PBS documentaries The Wall: A World Divided and After the Wall: A World United, as well as serving as director and editor on A Murder in Montrose: The Paul Broussard Legacy, The Last 24 , Getting There: Journeys From Vietnam, and The Cruiser Houston: Of Pride and Purpose. Matthew also developed and directed the nationally-syndicated Downton Abbey after-show Manor of Speaking—a show which was awarded the Emmy in 2014, 2015, and 2016 for Interview/Discussion Program, and for which Matthew received a craft directing Emmy in 2013.

In 2017 Matt won four Emmys, including the award for Arts Feature segment for the fourth time in the five years that HPM’s series Arts InSight had been on the air, and was named Houston Press Club TV Photojournalist of the Year for the third time.

Matthew, a University of Houston alum, has lived in Houston for 27 years and currently resides in the Heights with his wife and two kids.
