Eddie Robinson

Eddie Robinson

Executive Producer & Host, I SEE U

A native of Mississippi, Eddie started his radio career as a 10th grader, working as a music jock for a 100,000-Watt (Pop) FM station and a Country AM station simultaneously. While Mississippi Governor Ray Mabus had nominated him for the U.S. Naval Academy in 1991, Eddie had an extreme passion for broadcast media, particularly radio.

While earning a Mechanical Engineering degree from Prairie View A&M University, he received numerous awards as an on-air talent for NPR-affiliate, KPVU-FM. After working as a Project Manager for Exxon/Mobil and the 3M Corporation, Robinson decided to move to New York City and get a Masters degree in Media Ecology at New York University. His network television experience started as a Writer/Producer for CBS News. Eddie also worked with CBS Radio for over 7 years, including on-air work at WNEW-FM and WFAN Sports Radio. In addition, he’s worked as a Writer for CNN-affiliate, New York 1; and a Digital Programming Manager for MTV Networks.

Eddie also served as News Host for the #1 public radio station in the country, WNYC. He hosted a number of sold-out news events and cultural programming for New York Public Radio’s performance venue, ‘The Greene Space,’ and served as a contributor for Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen.

When he returned to Houston, Eddie hosted his very own live, weekly talk show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. “The OutField” on SiriusXM’s OutQ, became the first-ever sports talk radio show for the LGBTQ community and served as a sounding board for athletes struggling with ‘coming out’ and issues of acceptance.

Robinson also co-hosted a television special on Houston Public Media’s TV 8 entitled, “Houston In Black and White,” a 60-minute show that explores racial issues facing black and white communities in Houston.

Eddie is currently in the creative stages of launching and hosting a new radio program and podcast around social justice and racial equality in his new role as Executive Producer. He’s also a member of the global non-profit, The Mankind Project, as well as the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association, the National Association of Black Journalists and USA Rugby.
