At Sunday night's Oscars (Feb. 28, 2016), Star Wars: The Force Awakens was very much on display even if the film didn't take home any awards. Cast members — and even those beloved droids — made appearances on the Disney-owned ABC telecast.

While the new Star Wars film didn't capture an Academy Award, it has broken box office records left and right. Not surprising when you consider just how intensely Star Wars fans feel about the saga, as Houston Matters producer Maggie Martin found out when she spoke last May with Houston-based Star Wars fans Kristen Lee Ohanyan, who heads up Star Wars and Jedi Enthusiasts of Houston, along with fellow fans Marcus Schaefer and Matthew Shields.
