One of the many pleasures of producing a program like Houston Matters is the opportunity to meet and talk with creative people, including – occasionally – notable actors and directors. Some are Houston natives; others are just passing through town. But each brings his or her unique experiences and perspectives to the work they do, and the conversations we have with them here on the program.

On this edition of Houston Matters, we present highlights from some of our favorite conversations with actors and directors, including Oscar and Emmy winner Louis Gossett, Jr., Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winner Rita Moreno, and East Texas filmmakers Wes Anderson and Richard Linklater. We also talk with theater director Jim Johnson from the University of Houston about teaching proper accents to student actors.
