Here’s the understatement of the year – parenting has its challenges. And parenting in Houston can bring its own wrinkles – figurative and literal ones. Moms and dads in Houston probably spend more time in the car, driving kids to and from activities. In the worst of our summer heat, there are probably some limits on how much time the kids are outside.

But Houston also offers great opportunities for parents and their kids – museums, parks, the zoo. A large city like this is filled with all sorts of resources.

On this edition of Houston Matters, we discuss the distinctive experience of parenting in Houston, with Kelly Davis, the founder of the Houston Moms Blog and Houston area media blogger and stay-at-home dad Mike McGuff.

Then, we talk about what happens when the kids grow up, and move out of the house…only to move back in. We’ll learn more from a Texas psychologist and author of the book, “Boomerang Kids.”

We also welcome your questions about little league opportunities in Houston.

And CultureMap Houston and Variety Film Critic Joe Leydon, who lectures on film at UH, joins us to discuss the past, present, and near future of religion in film.
