We’ve all come across something that belonged to someone else – whether it’s as simple as a grocery list left in a shopping cart or as personal as a letter intended for a boyfriend. These “found” items give us at least a moment’s glimpse inside the life of a stranger, the results of which can be anywhere from trivial to hilarious and from inane to heartbreaking.

And at least three different artistic groups have hung their creative hats on the power of found objects: Found Magazine, Found Footage Festival and AV Geeks. Houston Matters’ Michael Hagerty tells us about Found Fiesta — an event that brings all three to Houston, Monday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Arnold Brewery.

Event Info:

What: Representatives of Found Magazine, Found Footage Festival and AV Geeks all showcasing their best “found” items — like notes, shopping lists, bizarre VHS tapes found at garage sales and 16 mm educational films from the 1960s — and competing for the title of Found King. Organized by Houston’s Aurora Picture Show.

Where: Saint Arnold Bewing Company

When: Monday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
