For the sixth straight year, Actor Todd Waite reprises his role as Crumpet, the irreverent elf at Santaland inside Macy’s in New York. The one-many show, The Santaland Diaries, is based on the essay of the same name by humorist David Sedaris — a piece originally heard on NPR’s Morning Edition in 1992.

You’d think performing the same show time after time every holiday season for six years would become monotonous. But Waite told Houston Public Media’s St.John Flynn he relishes the rare opportunity to perfect a role and talked about how he and the show have changed over the years — in ways both subtle and obvious.
