As we close in on the end of the calendar year, for some of us in the working world, it’s time for performance reviews. You may be the subject of one, or you may perform one. On this edition of Houston Matters, we talk with Keith Wolf, Managing Director for the Houston-based staffing agency and recruiting firm Murray Resources, about what employers and employees alike should expect and bring to work evaluations. Then we discuss how to maintain passion for your work, while avoiding job burnout. We talk with Juliana Ashley, a career coach with Houston-based JS101, a non-profit career counseling service.

Also this hour: Houston Matters’ Maggie Martin talks with Deborah Hersman, President and CEO of the National Safety Council, who stopped by Houston recently. The non-profit safety advocate is focusing on efforts to encourage safe driving, as well as workplace safety.

And: Houston Matters’ Michael Hagerty talks with singer/songwriter and Houston native Robert Earl Keen, who brings his annual holiday concert to Houston’s House of Blues on Dec. 26. The show, “Merry Christmas from the Family,” centers around Keen’s popular song of the same name. Keen will discuss the concert, and his new album of bluegrass songs.
