As we near the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, the Houston Chamber Choir will perform Requiem for a President at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Houston. The Chamber Choir's Artistic Director Robert Simpson spoke with Houston Matters' Edel Howlin about the music they chose to honor President Kennedy's memory.

Event Info:

What: Requiem for a President, Houston Chamber Choir concert of musical performances connected to the life and assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The concert features Maurice Duruflé's Requiem for choir and organ, A Curse Upon Iron by Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, and Samuel Barber's renowned Adagio for Strings, arranged for voices. The concert takes place less than two blocks away from where President Kennedy attended an event at the Rice Hotel on Nov. 21, 1963, the night before his trip to Dallas.

When: Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, TX 77002
