While Lunar New Year isn’t until January 22, you can ring in the Year of the Rabbit starting Saturday, January 14 at many festive events around Houston. Enjoy an array of arts and crafts, lion dances, Asian markets, traditional food and parties for all ages.
The Lunar New Year is a celebration of a new year on the lunar calendar, also known as lunisolar calendar, and the arrival of spring. Some of the traditions include a thorough house-cleaning and cooking, visiting ancestor's graves, giving red envelopes, fireworks and watching lion and dragon dances.
