This year marks the centennial of the founding of Czechoslovakia. And — as the often-touted most diverse city in the country — it’s no surprise that Houston has many inhabitants either from Czechoslovakia or of Czech descent. Plus, Texas overall has a strong connection to Czech immigrants.

The Czech Center Museum Houston, which was founded in 1993 by Bill and Effie Rosene, pays homage to those cultural connections by highlighting Czech art, music, and stories.
In the audio above, Sandra Samolik, the museum’s communication and development director, talks about the museum and the Czech people.
