This episode of Encore Houston features the 2017 season opening concert for Ars Lyrica Houston: Sweet Philomela, part of their Artful Women series celebrating women in classical music, as performers, composers, muses, and patrons. Sweet Philomela is named after the princess of Athens in myth who is evoked in the final work, and the concert also features a unique instrument invented by Benjamin Franklin–the glass harmonica.
