Dance Production At MATCH Uses Indian Arts To Tell Global Story

KĀVYA: Poetry in Motion uses classical Indian dance forms as well as modern dance, unified with poetry and music to tell stories of the human experience.

KĀVYA: Poetry in Motion is an upcoming production by the dance studio Silambam Houston, using classical Indian dance forms as well as modern dance unified with poetry and music to tell stories of the human experience through six segments.

We talk with Lavanya Rajagopalan, Silambam’s executive artistic director, and Shruthi Murali, a dancer in the performance.

The performance takes place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH)
