We’re back at the Round Top Music Festival in the latest Encore Houston, this time with a concert put on by the festival’s faculty. Alongside the student orchestra performances, instrumental instructors perform concerts of chamber music throughout the festival’s run, and this is the first of the concerts from last summer in 2016. They perform two works by noted folk music enthusiasts Zoltán Kodály and Leoš Janáček, and conclude with Franz Schubert’s Trout Quintet, with the famous theme and variations movement based on his art song Die Forelle, or, The Trout.

  • ZOLTÁN KODÁLY, Serenade for two Violins and Viola, Op. 12
  • LEOŠ JANÁČEK, Mládí (Youth)
  • FRANZ SCHUBERT, Quintet for Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, and Piano in A major, "Trout," Op. 114
  • Performance date: 6/11/2016
  • Originally aired: 6/17/2016
