On this episode of Encore Houston, we go back to the group that started it all–Mercury, our very first featured artists on the show. In this season opening concert from 2015, they perform Haydn’s “Surprise” Symphony with perhaps a few more surprises than the composer intended. Then, pianist Alexander Weimann joins the orchestra on fortepiano for a Mozart piano concerto, and the concert concludes with a story inspired by Greek mythology through the music of Jean-Philippe Rameau.
