Video: Day For Night 2016 Visual Artists – Shoplifter

Houston Public Media visited the 2016 Day for Night festival to meet some of the visual artists presenting dazzling art installations.

Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir (aka Shoplifter) is an Icelandic artist now living and working in New York. She creates environments using hair as her principal artistic medium. At Day for Night, Shoplifter used white hair extensions attached to fencing, and projected footage (by Duncan Ransom from the Endless Collective) onto the construction, which gave the impression of a living, breathing entity she calls "GhostBeast." Playful, trippy and fun, the project was a hit with Instagrammers and selfie-inclined festival goers.

Keep an eye out for Day for Night artist profile stories each day this week, and see the entire series on Arts InSight Friday, March 3, 8:30pm, on Houston Public Media – TV 8.
