Video: A Photographer’s Family Portrait

When Emily Peacock started exploring photography, her family joined her on the journey.

As a photographer, Emily Peacock often casts herself and members of her family as subjects, offering a quirky and intimate glimpse into her personal life and influences. In one series of photographs, Peacock recreated several images captured by the famous photographer Diane Arbus, featuring Peacock and her family members as the marginalized individuals in Arbus’ photos. Peacock recently made her first short film, August, loosely based on her own experience of a family tragedy.

This segment will air Friday, October 14, 8:30pm, as part of the Houston Public Media TV 8 program Arts InSight.
