Metropolitan Opera Competition Finals To Broadcast This Weekend On Classical 91.7

Classical 91.7 broadcasts the Metropolitan Opera National Council Grand Finals Concert in place of the usual opera broadcast this Saturday.

There is no true Metropolitan Opera broadcast on Classical 91.7 this Saturday, May 14th, but there’s a very special treat instead in the form the Metropolitan Opera National Council Grand Finals Concert from the 2015-2016 season!

This concert features some of the finest young vocal soloists from around the country with the Met orchestra under Maestro Antony Walker. Hosted by Deborah Voigt and featuring a special performance by guest artist Eric Owens, this broadcast comes from a pre-recorded performance from March of this year.

Of the nine finalists, five winners were named: Yelena Dyachek, 24, soprano, (Western Region: Sacramento, CA); Emily D'Angelo, 21, mezzo-soprano, (Great Lakes Region: Toronto, Canada); Jakub Józef Orliński, 25, countertenor (New England Region: Warsaw, Poland, currently living in New York, NY); Sol Jin, 30, baritone (Eastern Region: South Korea, currently living in Fort Lee, NJ); and Sean Michael Plumb, 24, baritone (Gulf Coast Region: Philadelphia, PA).

Tune in to Classical 91.7 or 88.7 HD Channel 2 at noon Central tomorrow (Saturday, May 14th) to catch this special broadcast.
