The Houston Brass Band is the Bayou City's very own British-style brass band, modeled on a tradition that goes back centuries to the coal mines and pubs across the pond.

In this sound portrait, HBB Music Director Robert Walp gives us a brief history of British-style brass bands and describes his love for this musical tradition.

The Houston Brass Band presents the concert, A Very British Evening, on Sunday, April 17 at 6pm in the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall.

All musical excerpts used in this segment are performed by the Houston Brass Band, from the group's 2011 CD, One.
