Houston Ballet’s Lauren Anderson On The Sleeping Beauty

Former company principal talks about choreographer Ben Stevenson’s classic production.

In celebration of former Artistic Director Ben Stevenson’s 80th birthday, Houston Ballet has remounted his beloved production of one of the masterpieces of the classical ballet repertoire.

In the production, former Houston Ballet principal Lauren Anderson plays the character role of the Queen, mother of Princess Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty

Anderson, who’s been associated with Houston Ballet since the early 1970s, has danced all of the major female roles in the Stevenson production. She talks with Houston Public Media’s St.John Flynn about The Sleeping Beauty, which closes this weekend.
