In this Opera Cheat Sheet, Houston Public Media Arts & Culture Director St.John Flynn talks with superstar American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato who sang the title role in Houston Grand Opera's 2012 production of Gaetano Donizetti's Maria Stuarda.

Based on Friedrich Schiller's 1800 play Maria Stuart, it's the story of the rivalry between Mary, Queen of Scots and her cousin Elizabeth I of England.
