Writing the City is a new audio series that profiles the people and organizations that make up Houston’s vibrant literary community.

This installment focuses at BooTown, an organization that has been putting on performance events in Houston’s Montrose area for the past eight years. While BooTown is rooted in theatre and performance art, writing is what makes its events, like Grown Up Story Time, tick. Hear BooTown’s story, and learn how co-artistic directors Emily Hynds and Lindsay Burleson have turned barflies into writers, as well as how they’ve fostered a new creative community in Houston.

Music in this episode by Houston’s Young Mammals. For more about them, go to youngmammals.bandcamp.com.
