Perhaps you were among the many who strolled down Heights Boulevard last year and posed for a picture in one of the over-sized lawn chairs on the esplanade. Well, the chairs were just one of many sculptures that comprised a public art exhibit called True North.

Now, you may have noticed there are more sculptures: an over-sized lamp with an owl perched atop, a distorted blue blob that looks vaguely like the head of a bunny and an over-sized metal sock monkey. They’re all part of the exhibition’s sequel, called True South.

Houston Public Media’s Ernie Manouse visited Heights Boulevard to talk with the exhibit’s co-curator, Chris Silkwood, about this year’s sculptures and how the exhibits their start.

True South is on display through the middle of December on the Heights Boulevard esplanade. And you can you learn more about the exhibit on Arts InSight, on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. on Houston Public Media, TV 8.
