Throughout the month of June a hundred or so college-aged musicians will be at the Moores School of Music to refine their instrumental and orchestra skills as part of the Texas Music Festival (TMF).

The festival attracts applicants from all over the world and this year the successful ones are drawn from more than 20 U.S. states and 7 countries.

The cornerstone of the festival is the series of four orchestra concerts, one each weekend of the month, when the musicians perform as the Festival Orchestra.  The first concert takes place June 6th in the Moores Opera House.

TMF General Director Alan Austin and Music Director & Chief Conductor Franz Anton Krager talk to Houston Public Media’s St.John Flynn about the festival.
