Ars Lyrica’s Love Letters For Valentine’s Day

Houston ensemble presents love duets from Monteverdi and Handel, and cantatas by Vivaldi and Scarlatti.

As part of this weekend’s 3rd annual Houston Early Music Festival, Ars Lyrica, the Houston-based Grammy-nominated early music ensemble, is presenting a concert of Italian Baroque vocal music.

Under the direction of Ars Lyrica artistic director Matthew Dirst, mezzo-soprano Ellie Jarrett Shattles, countertenor John Holiday and a period-instrument ensemble will perform duets and solo cantatas by the likes of Monteverdi, Handel, Vivaldi and Domenico Scarlatti, all focused on the theme of love.
