Last December, Buddhist monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery visited the Menil Collection to create an intricate sand drawing known as a mandala.
The drawing, which was destroyed shortly after completion, is meant to illustrate the concepts of compassion and impermanence and was part of the Menil Collection’s ongoing initiaive entitled Experiments with Truth: Gandhi and Images of Nonviolence.
