Hispanic Heritage Month continues through Oct.15, and Latino writers and literature will be celebrated this Saturday at the annual LibroFEST, being held from noon to 8 p.m. at the Houston Public Library’s Flores Neighborhood Library in the East End.

The event features writing workshops, a discussion with award-winning author Diane Gonzales Bertrand, and a performance by singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa.

Catherine Lu from Houston Public Media’s Arts and Culture Unit talked with event organizers – Marina Tristán of Arte Público Press and Carmen Peña Abrego from the Houston Public Library — and she asked them for details of the festival and about how the event got started.
