This weekend we explore the music to Dolphin Tale 2, the sequel to the successful 2011 film Dolphin Tale with music composed by Mark Isham. This time composer Rachel Portman takes the story to the next chapter, continuing to follow the life of the amazing dolphin, Winter, who was saved in the first film by a prosthetic tail. This time, Winter’s surrogate mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only poolmate she has ever known. However, the loss of Panama may have even greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as dolphins’ social behavior requires them to be paired with other dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another aquarium.
Portman has composed a score that takes us on a ride through many emotions using a musical palette that is fitting for an underwater adventure. Join Brad Sayles this Saturday, September 6th, at 7pm or Sunday at 5pm to explore this soon to be released film score.
