Houston’s Alley Theatre opened its new season Aug. 20 with the Horton Foote play “The Old Friends,” a story about a Texas family in turmoil, starring Broadway veteran Betty Buckley. The new season is notable because it’s taking place entirely on the University of Houston campus while the Alley’s downtown location is renovated.

Houston Public Media’s Ernie Manouse met up with the Alley’s Managing Director Dean Gladden at the UH location to talk about the kinds of shows the temporary location allows the Alley to stage and about the renovation process.

For more on the Alley’s upcoming season, tune in for Arts InSight, next Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. on Houston Public Media, TV 8.
