The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra On Classical 91.7

Every Wednesday during August, hear concert broadcasts of ROCO’s 2012 season.

This Wednesday, Classical 91.7 begins a four-week series of broadcast concerts from the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra’s 2012 season. This week’s program features their concert given on February 18th, 2012, at the Church of St. John the Divine and features conductor Kazem Abdullah. Along with a world premiere of a piece commissioned by ROCO, the program will include excerpts from an interview with the composer, Paul English. Plus, hear Kazem Abdullah talk about why he loves to conduct Schubert, and cellist Richard Belcher explains why the Haydn piece has special significance to him.

The program includes:

Lumiere Lunaire: Fantasy for Orchestra by Paul English with text by JoAnn Falletta (World premiere, commissioned by ROCO in memory of Albert and Ethel Herzstein.)

Franz Joseph Haydn’s Concerto in C major for Violincello and Orchestra

Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 4 in c minor, “Tragic”
