This Saturday, July 12, is the second Day of Music festival from the Houston Symphony. The free event showcases the diverse range of music found in Houston with performances from more than two dozen artists from genres ranging from salsa to jazz.

Steve Wenig, Director of Community Partnerships at the Houston Symphony, joins us to preview this year’s event.

Plus: He tells us about two upcoming performances where the symphony will play the music from J.J. Abrams’ films Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013).
