The Alley Theatre Kicks Off Historic Renovation

Watch the first symbolic smash of the sledgehammer.

Alley Theatre board member Roger Plank symbolically smashed a stage column with a sledgehammer, capping off a press conference announcing the historic groundbreaking of a $73 million capital campaign renovation to the theatre, which was constructed in 1968. During renovation, the Alley will spend its 2014-2015 season at the University of Houston’s Wortham Theatre. Also, Alley artistic director Gregory Boyd dedicated the renovation to Alley founder Nina Vance, who died in 1980.
