A captured platypus joins the circus in “Platahontas.”

BooTown co-artistic director Emily Hynds talks about “Platahontas,” a shadow-puppet play she conceived and directed. The narrative follows a platypus captured from his homeland, sold into scientific research and eventually to a circus. He must learn to adapt and thrive in his strange new environment.
