Take intimate and athletic contemporary choreography. Add a layer of early music from the likes of Vivaldi, Purcell and Cavalli. Throw in a dancing musician or two. And sprinkle in some Shakespeare.
Now you have Vivaldi Dances in the Park, an inventive, collaborative program by CORE Performance Company and the orchestra, Mercury. The free dance performance, set to live Baroque music, will be this Friday, May 30, at 8:30pm at Miller Outdoor Theatre.
Houston Public Media’s Catherine Lu chatted with CORE’s Artistic Director, Sue Schroeder, and Mercury’s conductor and Artistic Director, Antoine Plante, about their concept.
