Artful Thursday At The MFAH, March 13: River Of Light

Artful Thursday at the MFAH features preview of HGO’s River of Light

March’s Artful Thursday at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston features a preview of the upcoming Houston Grand Opera original opera production River of Light. Joining us will be composer Jack Perla, and librettist Dr. Chitra Divakaruni, Professor of English at the University of Houston. Musicians from HGO will provide several musical samples for us as well. River of Light tells the story of Meera, a young émigré to Houston from India. She loves her new husband, her high powered job and the Houston lifestyle – and then the birth of her daughter makes Meera long to re-create authentic Diwali traditions at home. Houston Public Media’s Eric Ladau spoke with Dr. Divakaruni.
