Black Lab Theatre artistic director Jordan Jaffe plays underemployed millennial Leo, and veteran actress Waltrudis Buck plays Leo’s card-carrying communist grandmother Vera in Amy Herzog’s Obie Award-winning drama “4000 Miles.” The title refers to the distance Leo has traveled on his bicycle—from Seattle to New York City—to couch-surf at his grandmother’s apartment, but it also represents the generational gap the two must bridge to heal their own personal wounds and enrich their tenuous relationship. The play runs at Frenetic Theater through March 16. Buck and Jaffe talked about the play with Houston Public Media’s Troy Schulze.
