Dance Month at the Kaplan Theatre: Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company

The Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company is in residence this week to cap off “Dance Month at the Kaplan Theatre” at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center. Founder and Artistic Director, Carolyn Dorfman, chats about her acclaimed, long-time company and about their dance concert on Sunday.

Since founding her company in 1982, Carolyn Dorfman has created more than 50 works for her 11-member contemporary dance ensemble based out of Union, New Jersey. They are performing in Houston for the first time this weekend: a “Backstage Pass” interactive family performance on Saturday, February 8 at 7pm and a Dance Concert on Sunday, February 9 at 3pm. Sunday’s show features 3 full-length works: Ms. Dorfman’s “Keystone” and “Cat’s Cradle,” plus Doug Elkin’s “Narcoleptic Lovers.” She chatted about that program and about her company with Catherine Lu.
