The Festival was founded in 1983 by Moores School professor and internationally-acclaimed pianist Abbey Simon. Now in his 90s, Mr. Simon presents the festival’s opening recital that includes works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Chopin, all composers with whom Mr. Simon is closely associated.
This year’s guest performers include Italian pianist Sandro Russo, whose playing has been praised as “…a throwback to the grand tradition of elegant pianism and beautiful sound,” and the dynamic piano duo Anderson & Roe, who are recreating the piano duo for the 21st century, and whose YouTube videos have captured the imaginations of listeners throughout the world.
Watch Anderson & Roe play their own arrangement of Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango”…
